Renovations Plus Enhanced Safety Procedures At These Hotels

In order to comply with the recommended safety guidelines, hotels throughout the world are undergoing renovations or additions to ensure guests are housed in the safest possible environment. For some this means a complete overhaul while others are focusing on specific areas of the hotel or resort. Here are six hotels at the forefront of guest safety.

The Pearl Hotel, San Diego, California
The 23-room boutique hotel, operated by Casetta Group, just completed a property-wide renovation in June that celebrates its 1960s aesthetic paired with Casetta’s philosophy of sustainability without compromising style. Electric Bowery renovated the public spaces, including the pool deck and poolside eatery Charles + Dinorah, maintaining mid-century California inspiration infused with San Diego’s coastal vibe. The Art Moderne oyster-shaped pool remains at the center of the property surrounded by California native landscaping. Seating around the pool has been laid out for social distancing, and face coverings are required in the hotel’s public spaces. Additionally, the pool area is being monitored and cleaned every half hour.

Other safety measures include:
Lobby Lounge: In the lobby area, design firm Electric Bowery got rid of the former Shag Lounge and redefined the lounge seating with a custom Italian-inspired leather sectional and marble bistro tables. The Shag Lounge was a low-slung seating area with soft surfaces and a thick, shag covering. The new leather seating and hard-surface tables are easier to sanitize, and the tables can also be spaced out for social distancing.

Air Purifiers with UV Lighting: The Pearl Hotel invested in air purifiers with UV lighting to sanitize guest rooms after a guest checks out. The unit purifies a space in about three hours.

Contactless Concierge: The hotel introduced a new texting service for guests when the property relaunched in June. Upon departure, guests can text “Check Out,” and the front desk will email a guest’s final folio to the email address on file. Guests can also text the front desk with any special requests prior to check-in.

Commitment to Sustainability: Casetta Group thought long-term in incorporating sustainable, eco-friendly touch points as part of the renovation.

Pow Wow Design Studio designed the guest rooms in a clean, minimalistic aesthetic with everything a guest needs for a comfortable stay (and nothing that they don’t). Bath amenities are 100% certified organic, Parachute bedding and bath linens are sustainably made, and the property offers boxed water as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic water bottles. The resort underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation.
